It appears that Airbnb users in the Netherlands are choosing Groningen over cities such as Amsterdam and The Hague: Groningen is the most popular city among Dutch tourists for bookings via the rental platform.
Airbnb, which has 1.3 million registered users in the Netherlands, analysed its booking data in the period from 21 June to 23 September and found that the most bookings were made in Groningen and The Hague. Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Maastricht follow in places 3 to 5.
Tax
Airbnb is becoming increasingly popular in Groningen: tourists don’t yet have to pay a tourist tax, but alderperson Paul de Rook wants to change that.
