The duo of doom, Minister Hugo de Jonge and Prime Minister Mark Rutte, will hold a press conference likely announcing additional measures to combat the Coronavirus crisis on Wednesday

On Wednesday, Minister De Jonge will discuss the Outbreak Management Team’s (OMT) opinion on the advance of the British variant of the Coronavirus, which is about 30 percent more contagious. This new variant of the virus is expected to account for half of the Coronavirus infections next month across the Netherlands.
“The cabinet, therefore, considers it necessary to take extra measures as soon as possible,” writes the De Jonge.
Among the new anti-Coronavirus measures, the Cabinet is expected to introduce a curfew and further restricting visits and meetings. Travel rules within the country are also an option, as they already exist in Germany and France, where residents are allowed to move within a limited radius around their home. Even a complete stay-at-home order is an option.
The extra measures will not be taken only because of the advance of the British variant of the virus, but also because of the possible reopening of schools, which will likely lead to additional spreading of the Coronavirus.
