According to the municipal health service (GGD), 79 percent of Groningen residents have received their first injection, 73 percent are fully vaccinated. A total of 670,340 shots have been administered, including both first and second shots.
New infections
With a total number of 474 new infections last week, the infection rate was slightly lower than the week before (490 cases). However, the age group between 30 and 65 poses the highest infection rates with 36 percent, GIC.nl reports.
The infection rate in the Groningen region reached 82 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Nonetheless, it is still below the national average of 101 per 100,000 inhabitants. Due to the relatively low number of hospital admissions (8,5 per 1,000,000 inhabitants), the classification level has been categorized as ‘concerning’.
