In the far north-east of the country, far from the quiet corridors of The Hague and the touristy bustle of Amsterdam and Utrecht, perhaps the only way to make yourself heard is loud, really loud, rock music. That must have been the thinking behind a new campaign launched by Marketing Groningen, a local marketing agency, in collaboration with the municipality of Groningen and local businesses.
The campaign, dubbed ‘Sounds like Groningen,’ celebrates the city’s unique character and showcases the world of discoveries that can be made in Groningen, the official organizers say.
‘Sounds like Groningen’ aims to connect businesses, local residents and visitors, and to create vibrant spaces filled with art, music, and urban vibes.
Groningen, known for its creativity and innovation, will shine as a true rock city during the campaign period. Retail and hospitality entrepreneurs will give away fun ‘Sounds like Groningen’ merchandise, with surprise music events and giveaways being organized throughout the entire municipality and the city buzzing with energy and creativity.
The Rolling Stones – Unzipped
The international exhibition ‘The Rolling Stones – Unzipped’ is set to return to the Groninger Museum on June 30. The reopening is envisioned as a grand ceremony. With this exhibition and the performances of renowned artists in the Stadspark, ‘Sounds like Groningen’ promises to become a campaign in which every entrepreneur will want to participate. Tourists and visitors will get a great opportunity to immerse themselves in the unforgettable atmosphere of the city.
“Sounds like Groningen” is a joint effort of the Entrepreneur Fund Groningen, Municipality of Groningen, Groningen City Club, Business Association West, Business Association Southeast, Business Association Northeast, Gastvrij Groningen, Marketing Groningen, Groningen Bereikbaar, and the Groninger Museum.
The campaign pays tribute to the vibrancy and distinctive identity of the country’s “youngest city” and invites everyone to discover and experience Groningen.
