A man sustained severe injuries after being stabbed in the stomach on the Peperstraat in Groningen early on Thursday morning.

As reported by the Groninger Internet Courant, the incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on Thursday morning. The man, who is from the town of Goor in Overijssel, was severely wounded and was transported to hospital. It is not yet known if there was an altercation that preceded the incident.
RTV Noord reports that the police arrested a person at the Damsterdiep on suspicion of involvement with the stabbing on Thursday morning, but was released after the police determined that he or she was not connected to the incident after all.
