The number of overall cases has trebled since the start of September
The number of positive corona tests in the province of Groningen has increased by 235 since Friday, an average of about 78 new infections per day, reports the GIC.
The total number of infections now stands at 1,293 since the start of the pandemic. On September 1, this total was only 610 (since March 11). That means the number of positive tests has doubled in the past three weeks.
From Friday to Saturday, the GGD registered about 67 new cases. A day later, the number of positive tests increased by 112. From Sunday to Monday, another 56 infections were added.
The Corona dashboard of the national government reported eighty new cases in the province of Groningen on Monday. This is 13.7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants-significantly higher than the ‘warning level’ of 7 infections per 100,000 inhabitants. The number of hospital admissions and deaths has not increased.
The risk level on the Corona dashboard is currently set to Vigilant, but that was determined before the numbers rose sharply. If the risk level is raised to Worrying, additional regional measures may follow.
