A new daily record was set
In the Province of Groningen exactly 228 residents were tested positive for the Coronavirus between Saturday and Sunday. That is a new day record. Interestingly, there were more infections in the Province of Groningen than in the municipality of Groningen: in recent weeks, the city has been a major hotspot in particular.
The previous day record was 207 (and that turned out to be a corrected number after a reporting error undercounted the days before that). On October 15, 204 positive tests were also added, reports the GIC.
Figures from the RIVM show that 92 new infections were added in the municipality of Groningen on Sunday. In the rest of the province, there were 136 positive tests.
Westerkwartier had 31 infections. In Central Groningen (30) and Oldambt (15), Het Hogeland (15), Stadskanaal (14), Westerwolde (13) and Veendam (12), more than ten infections were also added. The numbers were lower in Appingedam (3), Delfzijl (2) and Pekela (1).
Five people from Groningen have been admitted to hospital. Luckily, the number of deaths did not change over the weekend. Across the country, a record number of 8,184 positive tests were added.
