There will be a minimum of 178 study places available for students of Hanze University of Applied Sciences in the new Forum Groningen.
Henk Pijlman, chairman of the Executive Board of Hanze University of Applied Sciences and Dirk Nijdam, director of Forum Groningen, have agreed the new places with the library.
Even now, there are a large number of study places for Hanze University students in the public library on Oude Boteringestraat. According to both parties, much use is made of this, and so the Hanze University of Applied Sciences is investing in 178 study places in the Forum that students can use at least for the next five years.
The study places, spread throughout the entire building, will be available from 1 December. The expectation is that they will not be used intensively until a month later, when the next exam period begins.
The student desktops are equipped with WiFi and power points and are available during the normal opening hours of the Forum, which are more spacious than at the current location. Due to the many functions in the building, the new Forum Groningen is open daily from early to late.
According to a spokesperson for the Hanze University of Applied Sciences, other students could also use the study places. “We are not going to check whether someone is really a Hanze student,” the spokesperson said.
