In the city centre of Assen, visitors will soon be able to charge their phone, tablet or even their e-bike on the street thanks to the Oslopaal, a gadget developed by Drenthe College.

The Oslopaal (Oslo Pole) was inspired by a similar device spotted by Richard TImmer, an instructor in the DC Tech department at Drenthe College. RTV Drenthe reports that the charging station, which is still under construction, will provide a spot for passers-by to charge their devices with electricity generated from solar panels.
A location for the charging spot is still under consideration, but a likely candidate is the Koopmansplein in Assen. Drenthe College hopes that the Oslopaal will serve as a convenient resource for visitors to recharge their devices and a bit of free advertising for the types of sustainable and innovative projects that students at the practical education programme can work on at the school.
